A requisition leads to a contract. The contract carries funding periods and invoices. Item Relationships make those links part of the data, so a team can see them on a graph, follow them from any record, and ask about them in plain English.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 30, 2026 – A-Frame Solutions today published a narrated walkthrough of Item Relationships in ArcTracker, the workflow module of ArcSuite AI. The capability links records across tracker types, so the requisition, the contract it produced, and the contract's funding periods and invoices are connected in the data itself rather than in a spreadsheet, a file naming scheme, or somebody's memory.
An administrator defines each relationship one time, on the record type rather than on every record. In the walkthrough, a requisition is the parent of its contract, and a contract is the parent of its funding periods and its invoices. Each relationship then appears as a field on the record. An invoice points to its contract and its funding period, and the contract lists its requisition and everything linked under it.
The relationship graph draws every record and every link across a team's trackers in one picture. It can be filtered by record type or by depth, or focused on a single record. Selecting a contract highlights its whole family, from the requisition to each funding period and invoice, and any point on the graph opens the record behind it.
ArcInsight, the AI assistant in ArcSuite AI, follows the same links. With the tracker turned on, a user can ask what is linked to a contract. ArcInsight finds the contract, reads its links, and groups what it finds into the parent record and the child records. Asked about invoices, it lists each one with its amount, and for the total it uses the contract’s own Total Invoiced figure. It can also work outward, from a single invoice up to its contract and back down to everything else on that contract.
Every record ArcInsight names is a link back to the source record. It answers only from records the user is already permitted to see.
A contracting office is asked the same questions every week. What has been invoiced against this funding period? Which requisition did this contract come from? What else sits under this contract? When the links between those records live only in document titles and spreadsheets, each answer is a manual search. When the links are data, the answer is a click or a sentence. The same links are what an auditor follows when tracing a dollar from the requirement to the payment, a problem we look at in why the Pentagon keeps failing its audit.
A contract is never just a contract. It starts with a requisition, and it has funding periods and invoices. In ArcSuite AI, those links are part of the data. You can see them, follow them, and ask about them. Relationships are set once, on the record type. A requisition is the parent of its contract, and the contract is the parent of its funding periods and invoices. Each relation becomes a field on the record. This invoice points to its contract and its funding period. And the contract lists its requisition, and everything linked under it. The relationship graph draws every record and every link across your trackers, in one picture. Filter it by type or by depth, or focus on a single record. Click the contract, and its whole family lights up: its requisition, funding periods, and invoices. From any point, you can open the record behind it. ArcInsight follows the same links. Turn on the tracker, and ask in plain English. It finds the contract, reads its links, and groups everything connected to it. Ask about the invoices, and it lists each one with its amount. For the total, it uses the contract's own Total Invoiced figure. It can also work outward. Start at one invoice, go up to its contract, and back down to everything else on it. Every record it names is a link back to the source. And it only shows what you are allowed to see. Relationships in ArcSuite AI: set once, drawn on the graph, and answered in plain English. Item Relationships are part of ArcTracker, and ArcInsight uses them when the tracker is turned on. ArcSuite AI is available on GSA Schedule 47QRAA18D003H and PSA Cooperative 25-203-AFR. To see Item Relationships with your own record types, request a demo. More walkthroughs are on the Products page.
